With its year-round sunshine and world-famous game parks teeming with wildlife, South Africa is a top African safari destination. Dramatic landscapes and acres of pristine, white beaches, diverse cultures and people, a huge variety of flora and fauna, with cosmopolitan cities, a South Africa Safari is an exciting experience. The two dominant provinces when it comes to wildlife are:
KwaZulu Natal is one of South Africa's most popular holiday destinations with a mild climate, year-round sunshine, and a myriad of natural wonders. Situated in the eastern part of the South Africa, bordered by the Indian Ocean, Mozambique and Swaziland, Zululand is a beautiful and scenic region, home to many wildlife reserves, game parks, marine sanctuaries, and world heritage sites. Kwa-Zulu Natal is the home to the Zulu nation. Wildlife reserves include the world famous Phinda Game Reserve, Mkuze Falls Game Reserve, Hluhluwe Imfolosi Reserve and the St Lucia World Heritage Site.
Mpumulanga is home to the world-renowned Kruger National Park, a 2 million hectare wildlife reserve. The Greater Kruger National Park includes Reserves such as Sabi Sand, Timbavati and other fantastic private wildlife reserves. Mpumulanga is also an area of scenic beauty with a number of small picturesque country towns en route to the Kruger. Included in this area is the “Panorama Route” featuring natural wonders such as God’s Window, Blyde River Canyon (3rd largest canyon in the world) and Bourke’s Luck Potholes.
Weather: Daytime summer temperatures (September - April) are high and may soar above 36°C/97°F. Winters (May - August) have chilly nights and crisp early mornings (minimum 3°C/38°F), but the days are fine and warm. Rainfall occurs predominantly in the summer months from September to April in the form of magnificent late afternoon/evening thundershowers.
